HackSaigon Hack Saigon

HSIS is a free, fully online, 3-day hackathon for students, running Feb 19 to 21, 2027 (GMT+7). This year's theme is Supply Chain Optimization. Teams pick a real pain point inside one of four tracks and build a working project during a 36-hour sprint. We care most about solutions that are practical, can be deployed, and help communities in Vietnam.

HackSaigon, a student-led initiative founded by Vietnamese students at universities in the US and Vietnam. We work to expand innovation, entrepreneurship and technical education opportunities in Vietnam.

A hackathon is an event where teams build a working project in a short time. It is not only about code. You research a problem, design a solution, build it, and pitch it. It is a great way to learn new tools and meet other builders.

Nothing. HSIS is free.

This includes access to APIs, technical infrastructure, mentor support, workshops, and other event resources

Absolutely. HackSaigon is beginner-friendly.

We’ll run beginner workshops, connect participants with dedicated mentors, and host team formation activities so nobody has to build alone. There will also be beginner-friendly prizes, so first-time hackers can compete on a level playing field.

High school students (Grades 10 to 12) and undergraduate students aged 15 to 22, from any major. Students from around the world are welcome to join, as long as their country is not on Devpost’s restricted list. All participants must follow our Code of Conduct.

Yes, if you are 15 or older. If you tell us you're under 18 when you register, we'll send you a parental consent form.

Yes. Mixed teams are welcome.

Teams can have 1 to 4 members. You can also compete on your own, though we recommend hacking with others for the best experience. Each person can be on only one team.

You can sign up solo. Join our Discord to meet other participants and find teammates, and come to our team-matching session during the event. To form a team, just ask a friend to join your project.

Every team must submit the team indication form by Fri Feb 19, 2027 at 11:59 PM GMT+7. All team members must be registered, RSVPed and checked in.

Yes. Beginners are welcome. During the event you can book time with mentors, join workshops (including a Devpost workshop on how to submit and a pitch-prep workshop), and ask for help on Discord.

No, not every team member needs to code. Teams also need people who can research the problem, think through the business side, design the product, and pitch it. Each project includes a public code repository, so most teams will want at least one member who can build.

The theme is Supply Chain Optimization. There are four tracks. Each one has an open prompt, so there is no fixed list of problems. Your team picks its own pain point inside the track.

No. Every project must submit to exactly one HackSaigon track. Submitting to more than one track leads to disqualification. Enterprise tracks are optional and separate.

100% online. You can join from anywhere. We use:

• Zoom for check-in, ceremonies, workshops, pitches and the live finale.
• Discord as the main hub for announcements, team forming, help and networking.
• Devpost for project submissions.

All official times are GMT+7. In February the US is on standard time.

Note for US students: the submission deadline falls on Saturday evening your time. For other sessions, convert the times in the event agenda on this page.

Check-in is automatic through Zoom and it is mandatory. Use the same email address on Luma, Devpost and Zoom so we can match your registration.

1. Register on Luma. Pre-registration runs Nov 15 to Dec 15, 2026, and registration runs Dec 15, 2026 to Feb 9, 2027.
2. If you're admitted, join our Devpost. This is where your team submits its project.
3. Join our Discord any time. You don't have to wait. It is the best place for updates and to find teammates.

Submit your project on Devpost before Sun Feb 21, 2027 at 8:00 AM GMT+7. Late submissions are not accepted, so we recommend submitting early. To qualify:

• Everyone on your team must be registered, RSVPed and checked in.
• Your team must have 4 members or fewer, and each person can be on only one team.
• Your project must be created during the 36 hours of the event.
• Your project can only be submitted to HackSaigon: Innovation Sprint 2027.
• Your project must be submitted to exactly one HackSaigon track.
• Your Devpost submission must include:
• A public GitHub repository
• A demo or presentation video, no longer than 3 minutes
• A description that addresses your track
• Add every teammate to your Devpost submission. We can't award prizes to anyone who is not listed.
• At least one team member must take part in the live pitching session.

Breaking these rules may lead to disqualification. Final decisions rest with HackSaigon staff. Not sure about something? Ask us before the deadline.

1. Live pitches. On Sun Feb 21, after submissions close, each team pitches live to a panel of judges on Zoom. You'll have up to 5 minutes to present and answer questions, and at least one team member must share their screen to demo the project. We'll send your panel and time slot 12 hours before judging, so check your email and Discord. Log on to Zoom during your assigned window.
2. Live Finale. The top 3 teams pitch live in our main Zoom room. All members of a finalist team should join.

Judges score every project with one shared rubric, out of 65 points. It looks at the challenge you chose, technology and innovation, implementation, technical execution, your team, and your pitch. Judges also write notes on each team, and those notes are used to break ties.

Be upfront about what is working and what is mocked up in your demo, and tell judges if you used AI tools. Judges consider this.

Enterprise tracks are optional. For these, company representatives review your Devpost video submission. You don't pitch live for them.

We'll introduce our judges closer to the event.
